About the Author

Cath Caldwell (consultant) is Senior Lecturer in Graphic Design at Central Saint Martins, the world-leading center for art and design education. She is a former Design Director at ELLE UK and has also worked for the Guardian, BBC Worldwide, and Condé Nast in New York. She is the author of two books on graphic design and a cofounder of the Editorial Designers Organization.

Cath Caldwell is Senior Lecturer at Central Saint Martins (CSM), University of the Arts London working on BA Fashion Journalism teaching information design systems and editorial design for print and digital. Cath's research centers around change management and improving student experience through equality, diversity and inclusivity. Cath is the consultant editor on Graphic Design for Everyone, a major new title, published by DK, and aimed at beginners, entrepreneurs and non-designers. Although British, she worked at Conde Nast in NYC and News International as Art Director and then became design director for ELLE UK and Elle Decoration.

Cath co-founded the UK’s Editorial Designers Organisation (a non-profit design network) and has; been a judge on the UK’s BSME Rising Star awards, the Stack Awards and was nominated for a UAL teaching award. Cath is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and completed a three year; role at the University of the Arts, as; Academic Coordinator; for Careersand Employability. Originally from Aintree, Liverpool, Cath now lives and works in London with husband John Belknap, the American editorial designer, typographer and musician. Cath is author of two other books: Editorial Design: Digital and Print (a rewrite of Yolanda Zeppaterra’s first edition) for Lawrence King Publishing. Winning Portfolios: aimed at young designers launching themselves into business.
